Why does laundry have to be a chore?

We all have done laundry at some point in our lives and this activity is still yet to become someone’s favorite hobby. It gets worse when these clothes form into a pile that occupies the corner of your room.

Understanding this everyday struggle, our group research focuses on recreating a laundry service that tackles those frowning bits, and gives them peace of mind with a clean house, less smell, and less heavy travel.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

How can we turn a tedious weekly house chore into a more pleasant and manageable experience?

CONCEPT OVERVIEW

The task of washing clothing, regardless of the quantity, is perceived as a tedious and stressful obligation. The situation only exacerbates when the accumulation of unwashed garments creates an unpleasant pile in the corner of one’s room. In this project, we were excited to explore seemingly trivial but everyday life tasks through diverse research techniques.

DESIGN EXPERIMENT

Doing laundry is often described as a personal experience for many people. Therefore, designing for an intimate experience requires one to step onto their everyday world and surrounding. Inspired by the thoughts on the traveling of clothes and our “frowning moment”, we want to test if our innovative laundry service would benefit customers and change their entire way of doing laundry
